seafood-rich diet can reduce obesity, cholesterol, heart disease and diabetes
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (June 27, 2012) – A new study appearing in the peer-reviewed publication Journal of American Medicine (JAMA) has confirmed what Bluewater Grill has known for years: a diet rich in seafood, produce and healthy fats can reduce the risk of a number of negative health trends, including obesity, high cholesterol levels and the risk of heart disease and diabetes.
The study, entitled Effects of Dietary Composition on Energy Expenditure During Weight-Loss Maintenance, compared the effects of various diets on post-exercise energy expenditure and the reduction of negative health trends. Researchers studied 21 overweight and obese young adults at Children's Hospital and Brigham and Women's Hospital, both in Boston.
Of the three diets, the low-glycemic diet rich in seafood, fruit, vegetables, nuts, whole grains and healthy fats like olive oil had the most significant impact on maintaining weight loss and reducing negative health trends including obesity, cholesterol, heart disease and diabetes.
