Salute to Sam Pillsbury

Bluewater Grill Phoenix continues its Celebrated Winemaker Series with a June 13 culinary tribute to Arizona’s most famous filmmaker-turned-winemaker Sam Pillsbury, founder of Pillsbury Wine Company in Wilcox, Arizona.
Our Executive Chef Jamie Gallimore has teamed with Pillsbury to create a special five-course tasting menu pairing Bluewater’s famous sustainable seafood and shellfish with the winery’s award-winning Rhone-style wines.
The exclusive Bluewater Salutes Sam Pillsbury menu, available on June 13 only, includes:
- “Fire and Ice” Oysters prepared four ways
- Herb Smoked Tuna with Poached Fennel and Orange Aioli
- Wild King Salmon with Artichoke, Anchovy, Purple Kale and Mousseline Sauce
- Duck three ways with Pillsbury-Pickled Vegetables
- Chocolate Chipotle Mousse
- Accompanied by six wines personally selected by Pillsbury himself for the evening
The six Pillsbury wines paired during the evening include a 2013 Petit Syrah, 2014 Chenin Blanc, 2014 Viognier, 2014 Reserve Chardonnay, 2015 Grenache and the first release of a 2016 Rose.
The June 13 event comes on the heels of this month’s popular “Central California Coast at Bluewater,” a one-night tribute to the seafood, wine and fresh produce of California’s Monterey County and Carmel Road Winery and Drew Barrymore Wines.
“We’re thrilled to continue our Celebrated Winemaker Series with an evening dedicated to one of Arizona’s most influential winemakers and tastemakers who continues to set culinary trends in Phoenix and beyond,” explained Gallimore. “Bluewater worked closely with Sam to create a menu that showcase the amazing possibilities when the freshest sustainable seafood is paired with Pillsbury’s award-winning Rhone-style organic wines.”
Total Wine & More at 1670 E Camelback Rd., immediately next door to Bluewater Grill Phoenix, will be offering select wines poured throughout the evening. Wine lovers can also order a selection of the featured varietals from the Pillsbury Wine Club.
