If it’s July, it must be lobster and clambake season at Bluewater Grill!
Inspired by the Bluewater restaurant family’s deep roots in Massachusetts, Bluewater Grill and Bluewater Boathouse Seafood Grill are reprising their always-popular summer lobster and clambake celebrations with a special one-day Chef’s tasting with wine pairing and two-months-long menu event. The summer tradition comes to newly opened Bluewater Grill restaurants in Carlsbad Village and on the Santa Barbara beachfront for the first time. Bluewater Avalon on Catalina Island will not participate.
The Bluewater Grill New England Lobster & Clambake kicks-off with a July 10th Chef’s tasting featuring a cup of Bluewater’s famous New England clam chowder followed by steamed Maine lobster, steamed clams, corn on the cob, fresh coleslaw and drawn butter paired with a lobster bib and hand-selected domestic white wines for $40. Considering the $65 value of the meal with wine pairing, clambake lovers save more than $25.
For shellfish lovers who can’t make the July 10th special event, chefs at participating restaurants will serve the same complete menu without the wine pairing July 11th to September 10th for the same price. Due to the long popularity of the celebration, which dates to Bluewater’s earliest years in Newport Beach, reservations are encouraged.
Consistent with Bluewater’s commitment to seafood sustainability, the Maine lobster and clams featured in the special meals are sustainably harvested.
According to Bluewater Grill co-owner, co-founder Jimmy Ulcickas, it’s not a surprise that the New England Lobster and Clambake is the best-attended event on Bluewater’s Second Tuesday Tasting schedule. “I come from Massachusetts, and several Bluewater general managers hail from the Northeast, so we’ve adopted some of the best New England culinary traditions ranging from our homemade chowders and authentic Lobster Rolls to our Stuffed Maine Lobster during the holidays.”

Offered on the second Tuesday of every month, Bluewater Grill’s monthly tasting events allow seafood aficionados to satisfy their cravings in a spirited setting featuring the latest seasonal fresh fish varieties and commentary by the restaurant’s resident seafood experts. During the July 10th tasting events, resident chefs and seafood experts at each restaurant will be available to discuss the latest lobster and clambake preparation techniques, recipes and regional trends.
